Pre School
Pre-school at Nurtured Nursery is the perfect blend of structured learning combined with a wide variety of play activities.
Children learn skills in all areas, including English and Maths, which they take with them into school. They develop strong self-esteem and confidence, coupled with independence in self-care and resilience. Recently, we have invested in the nursery level Read Write Inc phonics programme to support the learning of early phonics for our children who are getting ready to move on to primary education.
We encourage children to develop a desire for knowledge and learning, alongside the ability to listen, pay attention, take turns and follow instructions.
Children are encouraged to play, explore and investigate. Whether it’s dancing singing or playing, we help develop their movement skills and creativity. We make sure there’s plenty of outdoor play to keep children busy as well as painting, mark making and construction. Our garden offers opportunities to use a range of bikes and scooters, a new sand pit to explore with the diggers and tools, water exploration and construction materials. We can often be found in the ‘Top Garden’ which is also known as our forest school area. This garden provides opportunities to climb on climbing equipment, create in the mud kitchen, explore the woodland and use the tunnels, swings and sand pit. It is definitely one of the children’s favourite places to visit.
Pre-school children have weekly forest school sessions with our forest school teacher, which provides them with exciting opportunities to learn about fire safety and helps our children to have a better appreciation and understanding of our outdoor spaces.
After attending Nurtured Nursery children will have the ability to make conversations with both their peers and adults while being able to talk about their ideas and feelings… and respect others for theirs.
