Our Story

At Nurtured Nursery we're passionate about helping young children grow, develop and learn in an environment where they are nurtured from the start and given everything they need to thrive and flourish.

Here you'll find calming colours, limited use of plastic and bright colours, natural resources and good quality wooden toys and furniture built to last. The latest studies show that it's in this type of environment where brain development in children is enhanced.

We have an amazing team, all of who are well-qualified and committed to caring for young children. We have a really low turnover of staff which is great for the children and means our staff are able to develop lasting and meaningful relationships with them.

Learning through play and exploration, making discoveries and connections for themselves is a powerful way for children to develop knowledge & understanding.

We offer full day care for children from 3 months – 5 years. We also offer a breakfast club and a holiday club during the school holidays which is situated in the school grounds at St Winnow.

The nursery is open between 8.00am and 6.00pm, 51 weeks a year.

Meet Our Lovely Team

JUDITH
Director

I qualified as a teacher in 1991 and have worked with children ever since. I achieved a Level 3 in Forest School Leadership in 2011. It is so rewarding to be part of the formative development of young children as they blossom and grow into confident and knowledgeable 4 year olds. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends in my spare time, and walking with my husband and our dogs.

SOPHIE

I am a qualified teacher and taught in Cambridge for four years before moving to Cornwall. I started working at nursery in 2009 as a practitioner, in 2010 I became manager and have really enjoyed working with parents and leading a team. It is my passion to provide exceptional care for children in an inspiring, warming, loving environment. I like exploring the outdoors with my husband and children.

LENA
Assistant Manager & Lead SENCo

I completed my degree in Early Childhood Studies in the summer of 2017. The most rewarding part of working in early years is that every day is different, with new challenges and a fresh set of rewards, as it’s the little things that matter most. I’m originally from Suffolk and moved to Cornwall in 2013. I enjoy exploring Cornwall, weekends away and baking.

JANET

Over the years I have worked as a nanny, in schools, as 1 to 1 support with children with autism. I ran Polruan Pre School for 7 years and have worked here since 2009. I love working with families, particularly supporting children and parents with the preparation and transition to school. I have two grown up children, a husband and a dog.

BETH

I enjoy getting outside with my dogs and going for walks, particularly to the beach. I also spend some of my spare time drawing.
